OPEC Fund for International Devt 2011/2012 Graduate Scholarship Opens
OFID (The OPEC Fund for International Development) is pleased to announce that qualified applicants who have obtained or are on the verge of completing their undergraduate degree and who wish to study for a Master’s degree are welcome to apply for the OFID Scholarship 2011/2012.
The OFID scholarship will be awarded to support one student or candidate for Master’s degree studies. The applicant may be from any developing country, and he/she must first obtain admission to pursue a Master’s degree studies in a relevant field of development, in any recognized university/college in the world.
Through its scholarship scheme, OFID aims to help highly motivated, highly-driven individuals overcome one of the biggest challenges to their careers – the cost of graduate studies. The winner of the OFID Scholarship Award will receive a scholarship of up to US$100,000. The funds will be spread over a maximum of two years, toward the completion of a Master’s degree, or its equivalent, at an accredited educational institution, starting in the autumn of the academic year 2011/2012.

Germany- Postgraduate Scholarships in Computer Science at Saarland University 2011-2012
The Saarbrücken Graduate School of Computer Science provides an optimal environment for pursuing doctoral studies in computer science at an internationally competitive level. As a student, you undergo research oriented training and experience a stimulating and scientifically challenging atmosphere. Advised by internationally renowned scientists, you can participate in one of the many research groups and find your way into top notch research. The Saarbrücken Graduate School of Computer Science is Supported by the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments; An integrated program from BSc or MSc to PhD. You have ample opportunity to acquaint yourself with the many computer science research groups in Saarbrücken and to find a group and an advisor matching your interest.
After passing a qualifying exam, you enter the research and dissertation phase which you spend as a member of a research group. During the entire program there is a comprehensive offering of so-called Soft Skills seminars and courses.
In justified cases, you can be exempted from parts of or even the entire preparatory phase. Also, the courses you take in the preparatory phase can be used towards a Masters degree, if this is desired and all formal requirements are met.

After passing a qualifying exam, you enter the research and dissertation phase which you spend as a member of a research group. During the entire program there is a comprehensive offering of so-called Soft Skills seminars and courses.
In justified cases, you can be exempted from parts of or even the entire preparatory phase. Also, the courses you take in the preparatory phase can be used towards a Masters degree, if this is desired and all formal requirements are met.
How can I apply?
Submit the following materials
• CV
• full transcripts of all academic records, including all university andhigh school diplomas (please provide certified English, German or French translations, if your documents are in another language)
• a brief statement (1 or 2 pages) explaining your motivation for pursuing a doctorate in computer science
• 2 letters of recommendation (to be sent to us directly by the referees, as prompted by the OAS * please note that only officialaffiliation e-mail addresses will be considered valid; the letters should be very clear about your overall ranking)
• if available, TOEFL scores, or equivalent record of English proficiency (TSE, Cambridge Certificate scores), otherwise a short personal statement with respect to your English qualifications. (Please keep in mind that very good understanding of English will be essential for your success.)
• if available, GRE scores

Applications may be submitted anytime beforehand, but will be considered in a concerted selection process after the posted deadline. Results can be expected in the course of July 2011.
