SHORT DESCRIPTION

Twente University Scholarships (UTS) are scholarships for excellent students from non-EEA countries, applying for a graduate program (MSc) at the University of Twente.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION

To qualify for a UTS, candidates must Fulfill the following requirements:

-	Have been admitted to one of the above mentioned graduate program at University of Twente before December 15 for round 1 or March 15 for round 2

-	Have graduated with excellent results in their (under-) graduate programs, where excellency is based on overall CGPA

-	Comply with the conditions to obtain a Dutch visa

-	Comply with the overall Academic IELTS English language test standard 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT of 90) and an additional 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) on the subscore of speaking skills

-	Have the nationality from a non-EU/EEA country and not being eligible for a Dutch study grant

-	Have finished a possible pre-master at the University of Twente

Students who are not directly admitted to a master, but wants to start a 'pre-master' programs can already apply for a UTS. If they do not finish the pre-master with a CGPA of 7.5 out of 10, they can not be granted UTS. They must also comply with above mentioned requirements for UTS, including English language test scores.

15 December and 15 March each year.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT

There are two possible UTS amounts for one and two year study program for two year study program. The student can only chose and apply for one of these. The stated amounts are given per year of study.

The scholarship amounts from Which the student will chose by application are

b.	€ 20,000 one year master programs

c.	€ 12,500 two year master program

d.	€ 10,000 one year master programs

exception on these amounts are made for the two year study programPhilosophy of Science, Technology and Society , a non-technical study, for Which the following scholarship amounts to be chosen from: large scholarship = 20.000 € = 10.000 € small

Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarships 2011-2012

At their April 2009 meeting, The Rotary Foundation Trustees decided to end some Rotary programs, including funding for the Cultural and Multi-Year Ambassadorial Scholarships. Effective 1 July 2009, The Rotary Foundation will no longer fund these two types of Ambassadorial Scholarships as well as Rotary Grants for University Teachers. Ambassadorial Scholarships, The Rotary Foundation's oldest and best-known program, was founded in 1947. Since then, more than 40,000 men and women from about 100 nations have studied abroad under its auspices. Today it is one of the world's largest privately funded international scholarships programs. Nearly 700 scholarships were awarded for study in 2009-10. Through grants totaling approximately US$16.2 million, recipients from about 70 countries studied in more than 80 nations.

The purpose of the Ambassadorial Scholarships program is to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries and geographical areas. While abroad, scholars serve as goodwill ambassadors to the host country and give presentations about their homelands to Rotary clubs and other groups. Upon returning home, scholars share with Rotarians and others the experiences that led to a greater understanding of their host country.

Guidance for applicants

Additional information to help you complete your application

Scholarships are only available for accredited courses at UK universities. International students who are or who will be studying in the UK are welcome to apply, subject to visa requirements (see below).

The application form and supporting documentation are the same for all undergraduate scholarships. The Scholarships Committee will decide which scholarships are most applicable to shortlisted/successful applicants.

IET accredited degrees

Check that your degree course is accredited by the IET by downloading the directory of IET accredited courses. We are unable to consider an application for scholarship for if your course of study is not accredited by the IET at your university. Universities decide which of their courses they will seek to have accredited by the IET: please do not assume that a degree course that is IET accredited at one university will automatically be IET accredited at another.

Application form

The application form should be saved with the applicant’s name in the title e.g. ‘Smith, Sam’ and sent by email.
Please ask your referee to save the reference form with your name in the title e.g. ‘Smith, Sam Reference’ and to send it via email.
Please send your application form in a file on its own and send supporting documentation separately in one or more additional files. Hardcopy supporting documentation should be scanned, internet documentation (e.g. UCAS, examination transcripts) should be sent as a print screen (Alt+print screen, paste into Word document/image application and save).
The size limit for incoming e-mails to the IET is 10 MB. If the sum total of attachments makes your e-mail larger than this, please split them into two or more e-mails. Please use common file formats for images (e.g. jpg, pdf, png) and ensure that scanned images are the right way up.
Attachments to entirely blank e-mails can be difficult to locate in case of query. Please ensure your covering e-mail contains your full name (as shown on your application form) in either the subject line or the text and ask your referee if they would be so kind as to include your full name in the subject or text of their e-mail in any correspondence with us.
Please ensure that any e-mails from theiet.org domain do not go into your spam folder – all correspondence will be via e-mail.
Except for changes in contact information, which may of course be made at any time necessary, amendments to forms will be accepted only up until the deadline and only as entire forms – we are unable to edit them for you.
As long as it reaches us before the deadline, the date you submit your application makes no difference to its consideration by the Panel. However, please try not to leave your application until the last minute. The end of June is a particularly busy time for academic referees - give them time to do you justice.

Completing your application form

1 Personal Information

Nationality: if you are not British or a national of a country within the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we will require a scanned copy of documentation that proves your eligibility to live and study in the UK (student visa, leave to remain etc). If obtaining a student visa is dependent on your examination results, please let us know in the covering e-mail you send with your form.

If you do require a visa to study in the UK and obtaining a visa will be dependent on your examination results, we need evidence of a conditional offer from a UK university before we can consider your application.

2 Education

University:

You must supply full, correct details of your selected university (e.g. ‘Manchester Metropolitan’, not ‘MMU’), degree type and course title (e.g. ‘BEng Electrical & Electronic Engineering’) and the UCAS code for your course (e.g. H600). If you are not sure of any of these, please check with the university. Applications with incomplete or incorrect course details will not be accepted.
Date of commencement is the month and year you started or propose to start the degree course (not including foundation years).
If you are not already at university, please scan and send any documentation from UCAS or your chosen university which confirms registration on your degree course.
If you do not require a visa to study in the UK, you may apply for an undergraduate scholarship for degree courses starting in 2011. If you have not yet applied to universities and are applying for a scholarship to start in 2011, you must still complete the full details of the degree course for which you intend to apply, in order to enable the Panel to make an in-principle decision.

School/6th form /FE college:

If your exam results are not available, please insert provisional results onto the form and mark them as provisional.
Note for international students on UK school qualifications:
- GCSE: usually taken at age 15/16
- ‘AS’ Level: usually taken at age 16/17
- ‘A’ Level: usually taken in the final year of school at age 17/18, equivalent to US graduation, International Baccalaureate, etc.

3 Your information

Word limits are given as guidelines. We do not count these sections at the initial eligibility check stage, however, the Scholarship Panel may penalise obvious excess.

4 Financial circumstances

The IET understands that it may be impossible to provide exact figures for some items of income and expenditure and estimates for these are acceptable. These should be as realistic and accurate as possible and should reflect your expected financial circumstances during your time at university.
An IET award may be held in addition to a student loan/EPSRC grant, or similar, and company bursaries. Candidates who are receiving industrial sponsorship should indicate this in their application, stating the value of the bursary;
If you are applying for a scholarship on the basis of financial need, then you must complete this section of the form as fully as possible. If you are applying for a scholarship on the basis of excellence only, then the Financial Statement is entirely optional.
Note: The Scholarships Committee will consider an applicant's financial situation on their personal projected income / outgoings. Parental income is not taken into account.

5 Publicity

Your responses to the questions about publicity or receiving information from award sponsors will not affect your application and are required only for data protection purposes.

6 Referee details

Please ensure you complete this section as fully and accurately as possible to help us match references correctly with applications.
It is your responsibility to ask your referee for a reference: we will not contact referees to obtain them on your behalf.
Your referee should ideally be someone who is in a position to comment on your academic ability (e.g. school or college tutor) or an employer. Relatives or people living in the same household are not acceptable referees.
If you are still at school/college (e.g. undertaking an access course) or already at university at the time you apply, an academic reference must be supplied, unless you are on placement, in which case your reference must be one of an academic reference or an employer/supervisor reference. You may submit more than one reference and candidates with industrial experience or sponsorship who are submitting an academic referee are encouraged to submit an additional reference from a training supervisor or manager in further support of their application. If an issue arises that means that your original referee is unable to supply a reference, alternative academic or employer references are acceptable.
The reference should be sent to us by your referee, to awards@theiet.org.

What happens next?

We will endeavour to acknowledge all correspondence within 3 working days of receipt. Please note that the volume of correspondence close to the closing date means that this may extend to 4-5 days. If your e-mail arrived before the deadline, the information within it will be included with your application. Please only telephone to check arrival of e-mails if you receive an error message.
Near to closing dates, we will endeavour to send out reminders for outstanding information. However, owing to large volumes of correspondence at these times, please do not rely on this (we have no obligation to remind you). We recommend you make use of the checklist on the first page of this guidance to remind you what information you will need to send us once you receive it.
The Scholarships Panel meets in the latter half of September to consider applications. If you are applying for a scholarship to start in your first year of university, the application process includes an interview at that time – dates to be confirmed – which will take place in London. Please take this into account when planning holidays/travel, in case you are shortlisted. If you are invited to interview, we will give you full information about how to claim reasonable travel expenses.

If your application is unsuccessful

We will notify you; however, owing to the volume of applications, unfortunately we will be unable to give individual feedback on why the Scholarship Panel did not select you for an award.
You may apply for the following year(s) of your IET-accredited undergraduate degree course.

The 2010/2011 Shell University Undergraduate Scholarships Scheme for Nigerian Students is currently available until 20th of June 2011. Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (Operator of the NNPC/SHELL /TEPN/AGIP Joint Venture) is offering first year students in all Nigerian universities the opportunity to study with an annual grant from the SPDC Joint Venture for the full duration of their course. The programme aims to promote academic excellence and improve skills among young Nigerians. This Scholarships program is offered annually.

Eligibility
There are two categories within the scholarship - the National Merit Award (NM) and the Areas of Operation Merit Award, East or West (OE or OW).

1. National Merit Award (NM)
The National Merit Award (NM) University Scholarship is open to all Nigerian first year degree students in Nigerian universities who are NOT indigenes of SPDC’s operational areas (in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, and Rivers States). International Scholarships at University of Kent for Masters and Undergraduate Students 2011

The University ofKent offers a number of scholarships for entry at taught masters –postgraduate- and Undergraduate level for international Students from around the world. The scholarshipsfor postgraduate students will be worth £5000 (for one year of study) towards the cost of tuition fees. While that for undergraduate students will be worth £5000 per annum (for up to three years of study) towards the cost of tuition fees. Bothscholarships are offered to nationals of any country paying international fees.

Eligibility- Undergraduate & Postgraduate
Applicants for postgraduate taught study at the University of Kent may ask to be considered for one of the University's International Scholarships.

The scholarship is tenable for up to 3 years for a PhD (via MPhil route) [subject to satisfactory progress] and is open to international applicants only. UK/EU applicants are not eligible to apply. The scholarship will provide £15000 towards the cost of the International tuition fee over 3 years.
The project will focus on the impact closed landfills have on the environment. The inclusion of the heavy metals and persistent organics into the waste stream has resulted in toxic mixtures being buried. New European legislation has attempted to address the issue by restricting the use of certain substances. However, this does not take into account the historic legacy. Within the electronic industry many compounds that have known health implications are being used as they are currently not being targeted by the EU. This is again added to the problem of contamination in future years. The research will undertake a study of these issues and recommend remediation activity to off-set the environmental impact. The research will investigate the leachate from selected landfills and consider the impact on the water catchment area with considerations to the ground water and surface water. The project will use a model approach (case study of a selected landfills within water catchment areas) in studying these impacts in relation to certain parameters. Applicants should have, or expect to receive a qualification equivalent to a high class UK honours degree.

Before conducting thesis research, students will take three non-credit modules, viz. TERMS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY

GENERAL TERMS

If there is no special note in bilateral agreements; Turkish Government offers scholarships for Undergraduate and Graduate (Master/PhD) studies, as well as for Research and Turkish Language Summer Courses under the following conditions:
1- Scholarship notifications are announced through diplomatic channels. Candidates should apply to the authorized bodies of their own countries or to the Turkish Embassies/Consulates in their respective countries.
2- Candidate is selected by the related country or Republic of Turkey by the foreign representatives. Commission also selects one reserve candidate for a quota of five, two reserve candidates for a quota of six or more.
3- Documents of candidates for undergraduate, graduate and research scholarships should be submitted to the Turkish Ministry of National Education through diplomatic channels before 30th June and the documents of candidates for Turkish Language Summer Course scholarships before 30th April same way. Applications with missing documents or applications received later than the above mentioned dates will not be taken into account.
4- Turkish Ministry of National Education examines and evaluates the documents and selects the candidate/s. Selected candidates are invited through diplomatic channels.
5- Candidates of undergraduate and graduate scholarships should obtain a visa of “Education” and the candidates of research scholarships should obtain a visa of “Research (holder of MoNE scholarship)” from the Turkish Embassies/Consulates in their respective countries. Candidates of Turkish Language Summer Courses scholarships can attend a two-month TÖMER course with a tourist visa.
6- Candidates should be at the address on the invitation letter and bring the application letter and the originals of the diplomas with them. They should cover their own travel expenses.
7- Candidate registers to the educational institution that he/she is accepted and applies for the scholarship. With the official school registration and scholarship documents he/she applies for “dorms” and “residence permit”. Invitation letter includes necessary information.
8- Student should apply for the extension of residence permit one month prior to its deadline. Extension of the residence permit is under student’s responsibility.
9- Undergraduate and graduate students attend Turkish Courses at TÖMER for 1 year. In order to be enrolled to the universities, students should obtain a “high” level of TÖMER Diploma.
10- Before making their choices, applicants have to inquire about the universities’ conditions of acceptance and registration. Some universities require students to attend a one-year preparatory class and take
a final exam. After completing the placement process for a university, requests for university changes are not regarded.
11- Applications for Medical Specialty studies are unacceptable. However, candidates can take exams for Medical Specialty studies on their own efforts.
12- Research programs are open to those who want to make a scientific research in his/her particular subject area in a university. Research duration is between 2-8 months.
13- Turkish Language Summer Courses are organized in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, Kayseri, Antalya and Samsun. Applicants can choose three provinces among them. Courses are not organized in provinces that have no adequate number of applicants. Course dates are from July 1st to August 31st.
14- School fees, dorm fees and medical treatment expenditures (excluding long term illnesses, serious surgical operations, prosthesis, jaw orthopaedics, orthodontics and teeth prosthesis) are paid by the Turkish Government.
15- Monthly payment for graduate studies, research or Turkish Language Summer Course is TL 220, and TL 195 for undergraduate studies. Travel expenses and cost of meals are to be covered by the student.
16- Academic year begins in September. Candidate invited has to register educational institution until 30th of October at the latest.
17- If a student cannot graduate in normal school time he/she is given maximum a 2 year extra time. If a student cannot graduate in that extra time, his/her scholarship will be cancelled.
18- It is assumed that the student accepts the conditions of the educational institution and the conditions of the hostel and the conditions of the scholarship that takes place in this document.

II) ELIGIBILITY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Applicants should not be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey or hold a dual nationality (Turkish and any other country’s nationality).

Undergraduate candidates should have a “good” level of a high school graduation degree. The high school which was graduated from should be equivalent to the high schools in Turkey. Candidates should not have suspended education more than 2 years after graduation and not be older than 25 years on the date of application.

Candidates for graduate studies (Master/PhD) should be a graduate of a 4-year university and not be older than 40 years on the date of application.
Research candidates should be a graduate of a 4-year university and have a good level of Turkish, English or French.

Candidates for the Turkish Language Summer Courses should be a university student or a graduate student.

Candidates should not be infected with a contagious disease (HIV, Hepatitis-C and etc) or should not have a disease preventing his/her education in Turkey.

The Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) is an initiative by the Malaysian Government to attract the best brain from around the world to pursue advanced academic studies in Malaysia. This scholarship aims to support Malaysian Government's effort to attract, motivate and retain talented human capital from abroad.

Talented international students with excellent academic records and outstanding co-curricular backgrounds are welcomed to apply for this scholarship and further their studies in any selected and well-established Malaysian public and private universities.
This scholarship is divided into two (2) categories of study: Postgraduate and Post-doctoral Studies

ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA [UP]

To be eligible for Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS), applicants must fit the following criteria:-

a)	Not be more than 45 years of age during application.
b)	Obtained a minimum of Second Class Upper (Honours) or a CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at Bachelor Degree Level for Masters Degree applicants and for PhD candidates must possess CGPA 3.5/4.0 or very good result at Masters degree level in a similar field of intended PhD study. In addition, for post-doctoral programme, the selection will be evaluated based on the number of books produced, refereed/non refereed journals, portfolio and patent copyright. The Post-Doctoral candidate must have excellent reputation in research and possesses knowledge related to the research to be carried out.
c)	Took one of the following English Language Proficiency Test not more than two years before the date of application. The list of tests and minimum scores required: - IELTS Academic Test with a score of at least 6.5; or - TOEFL paper-based test with a score of at least 580 or computer-based test with a score of at least 230 or internet-based test with a score at least 92.
d)	In excellent health condition and certified by a Certified Doctor/Medical Professional. The cost of medical examination is to be borne by the applicants
e)	Wrote a proposal that is relevant to the needs and interests of Malaysia (research-based programme only)
f)	Has applied for and gained admission to postgraduate and post-doctoral studies in Malaysia (conditional letters of offer will be accepted at the time of application or has a confirmation of acceptance or affiliation with the universities in Malaysia).

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIPS [UP]

Each scholarship consists of:-

a)	Air tickets from recipient’s capital city to Malaysia

GENERAL CONDITION OF AWARD [UP]


	a)	Scholarship holder must undertake full-time studies for postgraduate and post-doctoral studies at a campus of Malaysian Universities.
	b)	It is the responsibility of the scholarship holders to confirm admission to the university.
	c)	Scholarship holders must not change their programme during tenure of the scholarship except with written permission from their university and the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
	d)	Scholarship holders must follow the approved programmes and abide by the university’s rules, regulations and codes of conduct. Any suspension from the university will result in immediate suspension of award. Monthly allowances are not payable during suspension, including suspension due to illness.
	e)	It is the responsibility of successful candidates to apply for and meet the requirements for the issuing of an appropriate entry visa including medical examination. The offer of the scholarship does not guarantee the granting of a visa.
	f)	Scholarship holders must maintain satisfactory progress and good standing as stipulated by their host university and degree programme, or the scholarship will be withdrawn.
	g)	The scholarships are tenable in Malaysian universities and research must be carried out in Malaysia.
	h)	Scholarship holders are not allowed to take any paid employment during their tenure unless with written approval from the host university.
