Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, as part of its mission to foster relationships with developing countries, has developed a special program for students from the African continent. This program will enable students to study on a full or partial scholarship for degree programs taught in English at UCSC’s Milan Campus.

UCSC is pleased to offer for the second year 12 full scholarships that include tuition and board for eligible students from the following African countries:

The full scholarships include tuition and board for the duration of the program.

Candidates that do not qualify for the full scholarship may be selected for the partial scholarships that cover part of tuition, whereas all other living costs and travel will be at the expense of the student.

Program information and admission requirements

Admission requirements for all programs include completion of at least a Bachelor Degree from a recognized university and IELTS 6.0 or equivalent if English is not the official language in your country. For the MBA at least three years of work experience and GMAT/GRE are required (students can apply without a GMAT/GRE score; however this test has to be taken before program commencement).

10 Scholarships for the 2011-12: Scuola Politecnica di Design

The Scuola Politecnica di Design, which has long been committed to excellence in education for the creative professions, is offering ten scholarships for the 2011/12 academic year. The candidates who pass the selection phase will be asked to participate in the SPD master's courses in Industrial Design, Interior Design, Visual Design, Web Design and Transportation Design with a full or partial scholarship. Special attention has been paid to scholarships for the Master's in Car Design with a high number of positions, a commitment that has been possible thanks to the collaboration with the Volkswagen Group, the first worldwide producer to launch a five-year programme in Italy supporting the education of new talents.

To compete in the scholarship programme, graduates in these fields who have significant related academic or professional experience can send their CVs and a portfolio with a letter explaining why they are interested in participating in the programme. Following an individual interview, the committee composed of professors and the school management may request that the candidates submit a project in order to evaluate their motivation and design qualities.

Eligibility

In all cases candidates who are employed and supported by an institute or university in a developing country that has signed a co-operation agreement with the University of Groningen and who receive an income from that institution will be given preferential treatment. Candidates should: be nationals of and have their permanent residence in one of the country’s listed, have a good command of the English language, be in good health so health insurance in the Netherlands can be arranged, be available for the whole period of the fellowship and be able to take part in the entire study programme, have no other means of financing the study in question.

Further criteria for approval are: (a) academic excellence, shown by academic performance and may be confirmed by letters of recommendation from university professors; (b) contribution of candidate’s education in terms of strengthening the scientific capacity in the candidate’s home country; (c) perspectives to a long-term linkage between the home institution and the University of Groningen

Extra criteria for PhD candidates are: applicant should be employed by a research institute of university in one of the listed countries and receive an income from the home institution, application should be supported by this organization, the University of Groningen must be able to provide an academic supervisor who will be responsible for the scientific supervision of the research

Grant information:	The grant is usually awarded for a maximum of 2 years for a Master’s degree programme, and a maximum of 4 years for a PhD. For PhD, part of the research should be conducted in the home country and part in Groningen The grant covers the tuition fees plus the costs of international travel, subsistence, books, and health insurance. Application:	Applications for student scholarships can be submitted by students from one of the eligible countries for a Master’s or equivalent programme at the University of Groningen. Master’s degree programmes: A step-by-step application guide 1. First the candidate should apply for admission to a study programme at the University of Groningen . 2. When the candidate applies for this admission, he or she must indicate on the application form that his/her study performance is excellent and that he/she wishes to be nominated for a Eric Bleumink Fund scholarship. 3. If the study programme agrees with the candidacy for a EBF scholarship, they will send a standard application form including the motivation of the candidate to the Board of the Eric Bleumink Fund prior to 1 March. Per studyprogramme only two candidates can be nominated. 4. The Board of the Eric Bleumink Fund will take a decision during their meeting in March. 5. Scholarships in Sweden for International Students in 2011/2012

The Swedish Higher Institutions will be introducing application and tuition fees for international students who want to study in Universities andUniversity Collegesin Sweden, from 2011 academic year (except Nationals of member states of the European Economic Area - EEA - i.e. the European Union countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and Switzerland). Universities in Sweden used to be Tuition Free for both EU and Non-EU/ international students, until the beginning of the autumn semester 2011. Your question, then, as a
prospective student thinking of studying abroad in Sweden could be,” what possible alternative is available”? I agree it was easier with the usual free tuition than scholarship, which is much more uncertain with high competition, but international students can still apply their skills with the available scholarships for foreign students.

Swedish Institute Study Scholarship for Developing Countries 2011/ 2012
The Swedish Institute Study Scholarship opportunities are offered to highly qualified students from 12 developing countries with which Sweden conducts long-term development cooperation. This includes Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Scholarships will be awarded for studies in Sweden mainly on second cycle (Master's level) from autumn 2011.
About 80-100 scholarships will be offered for the academic year 2011/2012. A few scholarships will be awarded for studies at first cycle (undergraduate) level. Scholarships will cover both living costs and tuition fees.
The 2011 deadline for applications has passed after January 17, 2011.

Scholarships through Erasmus-Mundus
The Erasmus Mundus scholarship is open to international students from all over the world. The application for studies starting in the academic year of 2012/2013 should be submitted no later than the last quarter of 2011. Some of the scholarships include:

European Masters Scholarship in Sport and Exercise Psychology (EMSEP)- Erasmus Mundus for International Students
European Masters Scholarship in Sport and Exercise Psychology (EMSEP) prepare International Students for a career in Sport and Exercise Psychology. EMSEP is a joint programme organized by four leading European universities in the field: the University of Jyväskylä, Finland; the University of Leipzig, Germany; the University of Thessaly, Greece, and Lund University, Sweden. The two-year full-time EMSEP program is taught completely in English and it offers education opportunities for students of all nationalities.

Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship in Distributed Computing for International Students
The Erasmus Mundus programme in Distributed Computing is a cooperation between KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, Instituto Superior Técnico in Portugal and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Spain. It is a two-year Master's programme including compulsory mobility for the international students. Students from any country are welcome to apply.


2011 PhD Scholarship- The Nordic Africa Institute Sweden
The Nordic Africa Institute, which encourages research and studies on Africa in the Nordic countries, invites applications for a number of one-month scholarships to facilitate use of the Institute's library. The scholarships cover travel expenses to and from Uppsala and include a shared office and free accommodation in a shared student apartment..
Scholarships through Other Organizations
The Swedish Foundation for International Co-operations in Research and Higher Education offers a scholarship for international students studying an international master’s program in Sweden. The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) offers a scholarship that gives international students from developing countries the possibility to study in Sweden. The program is called Linnaeus-Palme program and the student will have to go through their home university in order to apply for the scholarship.


Scholarships for Master’s studies at Linköping University
Linköping University (www.liu.se) offers a broad spectrum of master's programmes within academic fields as Engineering and Computer Sciences, Natural and Environmental Sciences, Medical Biosciences, Educational Training, Social Sciences and Humanities.

Students from countries outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland, who apply for a Master's programme at Linköping University as their first choice in the application process, are eligible to LiU International Scholarships resulting in a fee waiver of up to 50 per cent of the tuition fee.

Students from Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia are not eligible for LiU International Scholarships but are encouraged to visit

The British Chevening Scholarship For Postgraduate Nigerian/ African Students 2011/2012

Applications are now invited from suitably qualifiedcandidates for the 2011/2012 British Chevening ScholarshipAwards. Theseawards, tenable for a maximum period of twelve months, are for postgraduate study at a UK university and are valid for the academic year commencing in September, 2011. The Chevening Scholarship Programme is a prestigious awards scheme that funds international postgraduate students who want to study in the UK for one academic year. It began in 1983 and has developed into a prestigious international programme of Scholarships and Fellowships. The programme provides nearly 1,000 Scholarships at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the UK for postgraduate students or researchers from over 130 countries.

Who can apply?
You can apply for a Chevening scholarship if:

• You are a postgraduate student who can prove your academic success and who has already begun a career in your chosen field.
• You you have between two and five years working experience (depending on the country you are applying in), with an excellent track record illustrating your achievements and your potential to use the skills gained during your scholarship to make a difference in your country.
• You have achieved an excellent mark for you undergraduate degree and can provide a transcript of your academic record. Specific academic requirements are available from the British Council offices in your country.
• You are 21 years or older (there are upper age limits for specific countries so please ensure you check this during your applications process).
• You are a resident in your country when you apply and provide your birth certificate (with translation).
• You must have good English language skills (most UK Higher Education institutions require a minimum IELTS of 6.5 for admission into postgraduate courses).
