Agriculture Scholarships for African/ International Students 2011

Monsanto offers a variety of scholarships to recognize, reward and encourage students to continue their education in agriculture-related fields. Monsanto is an agricultural company, which apply innovation and technology to help farmers around the world produce more while conserving more. The organisation help farmers grow yield sustainably so they can be successful, produce healthier foods, better animal feeds and more fibre, while also reducing agriculture's impact on our environment. Driven by the desire to actively support expanding development of future industry leaders, Monsanto seeks out exceptional students who have long-term career interests in agriculture.


Over the past 10 years, they have donated close to $1.5 million in scholarships and awards to thousands of students.

The following are the two major Monsanto sponsored scholarships:

Monsanto Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship
Amount: $1,500
Number of scholarships: 100
Eligibility: Must be a high school senior from a farm family with above-average academic record, and plan to enroll as a full-time student in an agriculture-related academic major at an accredited school.

DEKALB® Ag Youth Scholarship
Amount: $2,500
Number of scholarships: 10
Eligibility: Available to both high school and collegiate students who are pursuing agricultural-related degrees and demonstrate strong leadership skills and community involvement.

How to apply:
To Apply for either scholarship, applicants must submit application for the2011 Scholarship Application on the National FFA Organization's website.
FFA membership is not required to be eligible for both scholarship program.

Application Deadline:
February 15, 2011
